Care & Repair: Stuffed Animal Mending Clinic

Meeting Rooms A and B Combined
Monday, Aug 19, 2024, 10:00am to 12:00pm

Is your Big Bossy missing an ear? Lambie sprung a stuffing leak? Pato the Duck have a hole in his wing? Christina can help you learn to visually mend your most precious stuffed friend with sewing and fabric patches. They will be even more lovable after the repair. All materials are provided, including the most common items needed for stuffed animal repair like spare parts, stuffing, patches, and more.

The skills in this class are targeted at adult learners, however, youth participants are welcome to attend with an adult! Registration is required and opens two weeks prior to the event on August 5, 2024.

This program is part of the Care & Repair program series, which is made possible thanks to support from Beyond the Page, National Endowment for the Humanities and Madison Community Foundation. See all upcoming programs at madpl.org/careandrepair.

About the artist: Christina Ruhaak is an artist and textile designer with a studio practice here in Madison. Inventing and making the tools she needs to create her work is one of her favorite things. When she needs time to think she tends to her mending basket. Christina has an MFA in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design.

If you are looking for a way to connect to nature on a different level, you're in the right place! Alex will discuss the benefits of sound baths and participants will have a 25-minute sound bath from Earthly Temptation’s Sarah Branch. Afterwards we will take a moment to notice the natural soundscapes around us and how to tap into the sound bath of nature.

Patrons are encouraged to bring their own blankets, yoga mats, or chairs to enjoy the sound bath.
