Bushman
In 1968, Peace Corps veteran David Schickele enlisted his friend Paul Eyam Nzie Okpokam to star in a light-hearted drama about the adventures of a well-educated Nigerian immigrant in San Francisco. Using a docu-fictional style reminiscent of John Cassavetes' Shadows (1959), Bushman observes the foibles of late-1960s African American culture with an outsider's penetrating eye. The film morphs into a documentary when the director's voice abruptly intrudes to narrate its star's fate: Okpokam was accused of a crime he did not commit and found himself at the mercy of the US justice system.

Cerrar los ojos
Aging filmmaker Miguel Garay is called upon to recount his memories of working on his final and still unfinished film, "The Farewell Gaze." During its production, the lead actor and Miguel's close friend, Julio Arenas, vanished without a trace, leaving behind a mystery that would haunt the lives of everyone associated with the film. Miguel never directed another project and instead decided to live a quiet life as a writer by the coast. He remained reluctant to unravel the mystery until approached by an investigative journalist decades later. With careful reflection, he reconnects with the film's crew, former lovers, and Julio's daughter, seeking closure and understanding for what the disappearance meant to all their lives. Close Your Eyes is a haunting meditation on memory, absence, and the enduring resonance of the moving image.
Coup!
A mysterious grifter appears on an isolated seaside estate claiming to be a wealthy family's new chef. When a plague descends on the island, the mischievous cook rouses his fellow staff to rebel and take over the mansion. The servant becomes the master in this outrageous eat-the-rich comedy.

Green Border
Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, Green Border immediately drew controversy from the Polish government for its depiction of the European migrant crisis on the Poland-Belarus border. Shot in stark black-and-white, this riveting thriller explores the intractable conflict from multiple perspectives: a Syrian family fleeing ISIS caught between cruel border guards in both countries; young guards instructed to brutally reject the migrants; and activists who, at great risk, aid the refugees.
