La autora Joanna McClintick escribió este poema para honrar la historia de la resistencia del Orgullo y ahora su familia lo lee en voz alta todos los años. Author Joanna McClintick wrote this rhyming poem to honor the history of Pride's resistance, and now her family reads it out loud every year. In this gorgeously illustrated picture book, a young child prepares for the parade tomorrow, decorating their sign while mama packs snacks, baby Sammy chews on their flag, and mom recommends an early bedtime. Since it is Sammy's first pride, the whole family snuggles down on the couch to tell the tale of Pride, from the Stonewall riots to worldwide marches. As the narrator drifts off to sleep we learn, "Pride means to me: being yourself is a blast!" and see a beautiful rainbow spread of the next day's parade.
This book is also available in Spanish (La víspera de orgullo), and the Spanish language version is the first picture book I've seen with gender neutral words in Spanish: "Feliz Orgullo a todes."
