Gardening and Greenery Classes

Nov 29, 2023
Free Gardening and Greenery classes at Madison Public Library for spring

We're offering a series of classes and workshops on gardening and greenery. Whether you're gardening in containers, starting your own seeds or in a battle to keep your houseplants alive, these classes will help you feel more confident in your gardening skills!

If you're interested in starting your own garden, you can use Madison Public Library's Seed Library to get started. In April of each year, we restock our 5 participating libraries with FREE herb, flower and produce seeds, then in the fall and winter, we introduce Native Wisconsin Seeds. LEARN MORE

Not Your Grandmother's Pollinator Garden: Expanding Your Aesthetics and Deepening Your Curiosity to Make Your Yard a Wildlife Haven

January 6, 1-2:30pm | Hawthorne Library

Do you wonder how your yard can be more of a sanctuary for wildlife? Naturalist Alex Singer will take you through what to consider when planning to "naturalize" your outdoor space, as he's doing with his own suburban plot. In addition to native plants, he'll discuss other best practices to minimize negative impacts on nature and people around your home.

Bring your curiosity, ideas, and open mind to this presentation that will suggest tools, ideas, and resources to help you plan a yard that is natural and beautiful. Stick around to sketch out some preliminary plans and ask questions.

Space is limited for this event; registration is required. Please use the sign up link above or call Hawthorne Library (608) 246-4548 to register.
