Maria Schirmer Devitt is the new Artist-in-Residence in the Bubbler Room at Central Library this fall! Maria is a local artist who specializes in creating art in community, and her residency themed "Wishing Well/Well Wishes" will invite community members to tap into their dreams. The residency will explore the magic that exists in the natural world, our community, and in ourselves, and will focus primarily on combining words and images using printmaking, collage, and sculpture.

Workshops
Wish on a Stick
Sunday, Oct. 15, 1:30-3:30PM, Bubbler Room at Central Library
What would it take for your wishes to come true? If we were going to make a wish-granting instrument, what would it be? Drop in for a sculpture and collage session where you will be encouraged to use recycled materials to create something that’s not yet been made. Hot glue will be a component of these creations, so younger participants may need assistance from an adult.
All ages, no registration required.
[FULL] Wishing Deck Workshop Series
Sunday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 18, 2-4:30PM, Bubbler Room at Central Library
Using mixed media and print-making experimentation, participants will create their very own unique deck of cards filled with symbolism, reflection, and purpose. This workshop series is geared toward adults (18+) and registration is required.
Make a Sweet Something
Sunday, December 10, 1:30-3:30PM
Create a gift for someone special! Participants will have a few options for gift-making projects. You'll leave feeling proud of what you've created in order to send well wishes out into the world. All ages, registration required.
Wishing Deck for the New Year
Friday, December 29, 1-4PM
What do you envision for your year ahead? How will you set intentions and capture the wishes you embody? How will you stay on your intended path and recenter when life takes you off course?
Using mixed media and print-making experimentation, participants will create their very own unique deck of cards filled with symbolism, reflection, and purpose. This workshop series is geared toward adults (18+) and registration is required.
Residencies at Central Library are supported by the Evjue Foundation, Madison Arts Commission, and Scooter Software.
