'Tis the season for wellness and rejuvenation! There are three opportunities this month to learn more about self-care and gain some helpful tips on how to better incorporate time for it into your daily life. As we move from the colder temperatures of winter into the reawakening of Spring, now's the time to reinvest in yourself with some free workshops at Madison Public Library.
Self-Care Workshops:
Mindful Moments: A Drop-In Meditation Group
Mindfulness is the art of paying attention, of listening to your heart. Rather than worrying about the future or ruminating about the past, mindfulness can help you enjoy life more fully, effectively, and peacefully. Join us when you can to learn simple mindfulness and meditation techniques that can be incorporated into your everyday routine to reduce your stress and increase your well-being.
Each session includes seated meditations, a guided reflection on an aspect of mindfulness, and opportunities to share and discuss as a group. This program is being offered both in-person and online through Zoom. If you would like to join by Zoom, please register by clicking the links above. Registration is not necessary for in-person attendance.
Mindfulness & Self-Care Workshop
- March 28, 5-7:30pm | Lakeview Library *Registration Required*
Head into Spring with a whole new perspective after attending a Mindfulness & Self-Care Workshop with mental health advocate Nikyra McCann! Attendees will learn ways to build a self-care practice, minimize daily stressors and be more present in their day-to-day lives. This session has limited space, so folks are asked to register to attend. Sign up at the link above.
Writing Love Letters to Yourself: A Writing Class as Self-Care
March 26, 6-7:30pm | Hawthorne Library
Everyone's telling you to love yourself more. Or to love yourself less. Or that self-care is more than bubble baths, but you don't even have a bathtub. Or you finally have a bathtub and it's the best! And what does more than bubble baths even mean?!
In this writing class we'll sit down together and map out what self-care means for you, and use that information to get to know the best parts of ourselves. Join Nik Shier of HeartBrain ( www.heartbrain.org) for this "get to know yourself (again)" workshop.
April 17, 6-7:30pm | Hawthorne Library
Join Keena, of R'oujie Wellness, for a relaxing book discussion and snacks! Book Club meets monthly, Jan-April 2024, with the book for the following month chosen at the end of each meeting. This is a great opportunity to read and relax throughout the month leading up to the club, as well as decompress in community, enjoy a lively discussion with neighbors and enjoy personal growth along the way!
