How do I access New York Times Digital?

If you are in the library, you will have free, unlimited digital access:

  1. Click Connect to the New York Times
    Note: You must connect through the library's unique link on this page to gain free access
  2. Follow the prompts to Create a free account or Log in if you already have an account
  3. Enjoy free, unlimited digital access!

If you are at home or outside of the library, you may redeem a code for 72 hours of free digital access:

  1. Click Connect to the New York Times
    Note: You must connect through the library's unique link on this page to gain free access, whether you are using a desktop or mobile device
  2. Enter your complete 14-digit library card number and click Log In
  3. A code will appear. Click REDEEM
  4. Follow the prompts to Create a free account or Log in if you already have an account
  5. A confirmation page will appear advising when your 72-hour access expires. Click Continue 
  6. If you're using a mobile device, you may now launch the NYTimes app and sign in with the account you created; the code will have already been applied
  7. After your 72 hours are up, you can follow these same steps again to redeem another code
    Note: This is the licensing model determined by the New York Times. Madison Public Library is unable to extend or make adjustments to your home access.
