Beginning Birding for Families
Saturday, Jul 27, 2024, 9:00am to 10:30am
Enjoy a family-friendly guided bird outing at Cherokee Marsh - South Unit led by members of the Feminist Bird Club - Madison Chapter. Learn about nesting behavior of local birds and how they raise their families in the summer as we wander the beautiful trails at the marsh. No birding experience required and binoculars for youth and adults will be available. All ages welcome, with children and families encouraged.
- Location: Cherokee Marsh - South Unit
- Accessibility Information: This outing will take place on wide trails that are primarily mowed grass. The terrain is primarily flat with a few gentle inclines, and would be suitable for strollers that can manage grass. There are no restrooms at this location.
- Directions and Parking: We will meet in the first parking lot at the intersection of School Rd and Wheeler Rd. It is a small lot that can accommodate 5-6 cars, but there is also ample street parking directly adjacent to the park.
Registration is required; space is limited for this event. Please register using the link below, or call your local Madison Public Library location for assistance. Registration opens two weeks prior to event.

Naturalist-in-Residence: Rustic Floral Arranging
Saturday, Jul 27, 2024, 2:00pm to 3:30pm
A routine part of self-care and connecting to nature is living amongst it. While many people purchase flowers to liven up their spaces, there is untapped natural beauty that we walk past each day. This workshop will use local flowers, herbs, and greenery to help participants make their own bouquets. After learning how to select and arrange these items into pleasing arrangements, your spaces will reflect the beauty flowering outside your front doors.
Space is limited for this event; registration is required. Registration will open two weeks before the event, on Saturday, July 13.
Part of the MPL Naturalist-in-Residence. For more information visit madpl.org/naturalist. The Naturalist-in-Residence is made possible in part through the generous support of Nancy Leff and Kenneth Lerner, and in partnership with Madison Parks.
