[FULL] Teejop & Beyond: Make Beaded Earrings
Monday, Nov 11, 2024, 2:00pm to 5:45pm
Learn how to make a pair of beaded earrings with Menominee artist and educator, Yvette Peguero! Participants will use beads, thread, earring hooks, leather, and needles, and will have a choice to use rhinestone gemstones or photo glass cabochons (polished gemstones). A list of materials and places that they can be purchased will be supplied if participants would like to continue making earrings on their own.
Registration is required. Registration opens two weeks before the program (10/28/24) at 10:00am.

About the presenter
Yvette Peguero is an enrolled elder of the Menominee Nation. Before retirement a few years ago, Yvette taught for over 41 years as an Elementary Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal for the Oneida Nation School System in Oneida, Wisconsin. As a child Yvette knew that one day she would become a teacher and would teach Native children. After moving to Madison, Yvette continues her love of teaching by working as a substitute teacher for the Madison School District, as the Tutor Coordinator for the Title VI Indian Education Program, and by teaching others to bead. Her belief is that it's important to share our knowledge and it's our responsibility to actively do so for the next generation. Sharing these skills and knowledge, while also being a role model for our youth, connects us to our past and future and leaves our legacy for those that will come after us.

Pen Pals Writing Group

Are you struggling to carve out time to write that novel, screenplay, or other work of fiction you've always been meaning to write? Are you battling writer's block? Are you looking for people to read what you've written and provide feedback? Try Pen Pals, an all-experience-levels-welcome group for fiction writers and fiction writer hopefuls!
Once a week, bring in a laptop or notebook and surround yourself with other writers striving toward similar goals. The first hour will be dedicated to organizing feedback-swaps, discussing our projects, and collectively brainstorming solutions to story problems. The remaining hour is just for writing! Pen Pals is captained by local fanfiction author Linea Kemsley, who will provide baked goods and warm beverages every week to help promote that perfect cozy writing atmosphere.
