Central Cinema Cinesthesia presents Something Wild (1986)
Wednesday, Feb 26, 2025, 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Central Cinema Cinesthesia presents Something Wild (1986).
"A straitlaced businessman meets a quirky, free-spirited woman at a downtown New York greasy spoon. Her offer of a ride back to his office results in a lunchtime motel rendezvous—just the beginning of a capricious interstate road trip that brings the two face-to-face with their hidden selves. Featuring a killer soundtrack and electric performances from Jeff Daniels, Melanie Griffith, and Ray Liotta, Something Wild, directed by oddball American auteur Jonathan Demme, is both a kinky comic thriller and a radiantly off-kilter love story" (Criterion).
Hosted by Jason Fuhrman, Cinesthesia is an adventurous, eclectic series of classic and contemporary films that focuses on the complex relationship between literature and cinema. Cinesthesia strives to foster constructive dialogue, while breathing new life into controversial works, neglected masterpieces, and titles in the margins of film history.

District 11 Book Club: The Art of Community
Meeting Rooms A and B Combined
Wednesday, Feb 26, 2025, 7:00pm to 8:30pm
A thriving community begins with a shared, meaningful purpose that inspires its residents. By clearly communicating and reinforcing this purpose, we can encourage collaboration toward common goals. District 11 is fortunate to have a long history of residents deeply engaged in their community—whether through neighborhood associations, community sports, or volunteering in parks and greenways.
However, there is still more we can do to foster a more inclusive community. This includes actively seeking diverse perspectives, using inclusive language, and creating safe spaces for open dialogue to ensure all residents feel welcome and valued.
Please consider attending the next District 11 Book Club event on February 26th at 7:00 PM in the main meeting room at the Sequoya Library. Together with area residents and community leaders, we will discuss Charles H. Vogl's 2016 book, The Art of Community: Seven Principles for Belonging. A limited number of copies will be available at the "Ask Desk" on a first-come, first-served basis. This casual, public event is open to all, and even if you haven't finished the book, you're encouraged to attend and join the conversation!
