Gratitude Collage Workshop with Hijinx Mixed Media

Studio
Thursday, Nov 7, 2024, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

About Gratitude Collages:

Collage is a form of found art that instructor Juliet King really loves. "Scavenging for words and images that go together is an enjoyable challenge. As a graphic designer, I also love typography and photographs...To add a little flare, I sometimes draw on the photos as well." states Juliet. This workshop will source collage materials from a variety of printed publications such as old magazines and withdrawn library materials. It is like turning trash into treasure and breathing new life into something that was otherwise headed for the landfill.  Juliet will provide some prompts around the theme of gratitude and some collage+drawing samples to get participants started and then it is up to you to create your own!

All supplies provided, you bring the creativity and your ideas to express gratitude.  No prior illustration or collage experience necessary.  This workshop is geared towards adults and teens 16+.

Space is limited and registration is required. Both November workshops are the same content; please select just one to register for. Registration opens 2 weeks in advance (Oct. 24, 2024).

About the instructor:

Juliet (she/they) founded Hijinx Mixed Media as a way to spread joy and laughter through art. Using humor, my art aims to accessibly explore difficult topics like humanity's impact on the planet, loneliness and community, or reminders of death (memento mori). Navigating the world as a mixed race queer artist, I hope to encourage community, solidarity, and resistance.  Learn more about Juliet's art at hijinxmixedmedia.com / IG & TikTok @hijinx.mixed
