Cinesthesia presents If.... (1968)

Nominee Nights Films presents...
Pinney’s Nominee Nights Series is back! Please join us for two more films that have been nominated this awards season:
(Titles are subject to change) Seating is first come, first served with space for 50 attendees. Doors open 1/2 hour before the film start time. Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Pinney Library.

Friday Night Anime presents...
A wide range of anime genres are shown - primarily titles newly released (or re-released) in the US, with a few classic older titles mixed in. This anime series is for adults and older teens, many of the films are equivalent to an R rating. All films are shown in Japanese with English subtitles, and refreshments are always served.

Indie Lens Pop-Up presents Dolores (2017)
- Thursday, March 8, 6:30-8:45pm at Central Library
With intimate and unprecedented access, Peter Bratt's "Dolores" tells the story of Dolores Huerta, among the most important, yet least-known, activists in American history. Co-founder of the first farmworkers union with Cesar Chavez, she tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice, becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the 20th century.
Please stay after the film for a discussion with local experts and community leaders.

Indie Lens Pop-Up is a neighborhood series that brings people together for film screenings and community-driven conversations and features documentaries seen on the PBS series Independent Lens. This series is a co-partnership with ITVS, Wisconsin Public Television, and Madison Public Library.

Movie Night at Lakeview presents Victoria and Abdul (2017)
- Friday, March 9, 6-7:30pm at Lakeview Library
The extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of Queen Victoria’s remarkable rule. When Abdul Karim, a young clerk, travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, he is surprised to find favor with the Queen herself. As the Queen questions the constrictions of her long-held position, the two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance.

(French, English, Russian w/ English subtitles) Tania, a young Russian woman who lives illegally in Belgium wiht her 13-yer old son, Ivan is constantly on her guard to avoid deportation.
A Friday Night Meet Up at the library for those who seek an international experience.

A mix of independent films, foreign feature films, and documentaries. Suggestions for future screenings are welcome. All foreign films are shown in original language, with English subtitles as needed. Refreshments are always served.

Special After Hours Event: Pinney Mini Film Fest
- Saturday, March 17, 6:30-8:30pm at Pinney Library
The mini festival presents short films that screened at the 2017 Wisconsin Film Festival, featuring a Q&A with the filmmakers and Wisconsin Film Festival Coordinator Ben Reiser.
Films featured will be:
- Brown Girl with director Violet Want
- Fake Jewels with directors Kate Jianqing Feldt and Wesley Morgan
- Finding Home with directors Megan Monday and Brijetta Hall Waller
- A Place in the Garden with directors Christina Ciano and Jeff Buss
Space is limited; doors will open at 6:00 and guests may enjoy light refreshments donated by Willy Street Coop from 6-6:30 pm.

After Dinner Mints presents Dunkirk (2017)
- Friday, March 23, 6:30-8:30pm at Alicia Ashman Library
Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire and France are surrounded by the German Army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.

Racial Justice Film Series presents Race: The Power of an Illusion, Episode 3
- Wednesday, March 28, 6-8:15pm at Central Library
If race doesn't exist biologically, what is it? And why should it matter? The House We Live In is the first film about race to focus not on individual attitudes and behavior but on the ways our institutions and policies advantage some groups at the expense of others.
Hosted by Community Shares of Wisconsin in partnership with the Madison Public Library, the Racial Justice Film Series aims to educate and spark community-led conversation on systemic racism and related issues at the heart of the contemporary racial justice movement.
