What do we really know?

A review of The Better Sister by Alafair Burke

Alafair Burke just keeps 'em coming. The Better Sister is another solid hit from an author who has become an auto-read for me.

As sibling relationships go, Chloe and Nicky's is about as complicated as you can get. How do you reconcile a relationship in which both sisters have been married to the same man? Years ago Nicky married Adam Macintosh, a promising young attorney, and had a son with him, Ethan. Now a dozen or so years later, Chloe is married to Adam and the two live in New York with Ethan, Nicky no where in the picture. What happened? And how did they get here? And how does that complicated history play into the murder of one of the three? You'll have to read to find out as I don't want to spoil too much.

Burke has shifted a bit from straight mystery to domestic suspense, but that move hasn't changed her ability to tell a good story with characters you want to get to know. And here is no exception. Nicely done.
