Get swept up in the sweetest, cutest, kindest, most romantic young love! Charlie and Nick sit next to each other in class and become friends. Charlie is younger than Nick with an engaging personality, great grades, popularity, and is openly gay at their all-boys school. Nick is instantly drawn to Charlie and doesn't understand his feelings. He's on the rugby team and very "laddish" according to all who know him. It takes a while to figure things out. There are some tearful, heart on the sleeve moments that culminate in an awful scene at a birthday party. But rest assured, the story doesn't end there.
The graphic novel series continues with:
Heartstopper Vol. 2 - Nick and Charlie work out their feelings and the early days of their relationship are adorable and awkward.
Heartstopper Vol. 3 - The boys go on a school trip to Paris. Some serious issues crop up in this volume including an eating disorder and self-harm. The positive adult role models deserve praise. The teachers! The parents!
Heartstopper Vol. 4 - Charlie thinks he's ready to say I love you to Nick. Nick is ready, too, but distracted by family stuff.
Once you've read the books, check out the acclaimed live-action Netflix series. Please read the books first, though. They are absolutely charming and delightful.
