Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and the Madison Public Library Board are pleased to announce the selection of Tana Elias as the new Director of Madison Public Library. Elias currently serves as the Digital Services and Marketing Manager at Madison Public Library.
"Tana Elias has been a dedicated member of the library team for over twenty years, and her deep understanding of our community and strong commitment to our vision and the essential role Madison Public Libraries serve in our community make her the perfect choice to lead us forward,” said Board President Alyssa Kenney. “The Madison Public Library Board is confident that her experience and leadership will serve the community well and are excited to embark on this new chapter together."
“I look forward to working with Tana in this new role,” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “I know she will take a collaborative, data-informed approach to maintaining a strong library system and helping to nurture a thriving community.”
Elias brings 30 years of experience in various roles at Madison Public Library, where she has led rebranding and strategic planning efforts, managed staff and community engagement initiatives, and implemented innovative services and programs. She holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from UW-Madison, and is an active member of several professional associations and serves on a non-profit board in the community.

Elias will become the Library Director on May 12, 2024, pending Library Board and Common Council formal approval. Krissy Wick is currently serving as Interim Library Director.
