A heroine who just wants to read and works in a bookstore? How is that not going to be added to my tbr list? But books that are added to my list are often bumped by the next items added. Thus we have The Bookish Life of Nina Hill added to my list a few years ago and only now, at last, happily read.
Nina is content with her solitary life working for a bookstore, being part of a kick-ass bar trivia team, and spending her evenings with her planner and her cat named Phil. She suffers from anxiety and social awkwardness, so she prizes organizing her days and knowing what comes next. But, as they say, a little rain must fall, and for Nina, that rain comes when the father she never knew dies. Not only has she perhaps inherited something from the wealthy man, she's suddenly a part of a large family about which she never knew. Suddenly she has brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and more. And they're all interested in pulling her into their lives, will she or nill she.
If you're looking for a comfort read (something I've needed a lot lately), getting to spend time with Nina as she learns to, if not embrace, at least navigate change, find a family, and perhaps someone to love is just the ticket.
