Destiny

Destiny is the other Wanda Fullmore intern at Central Library. She will be sophomore this fall at Abundant Life Christian School. She describes her internship as fun and challenging because she is learning new skills and has been offered opportunities she didn’t think she would have. Her duties include creating book displays in the nonfiction area, creating fiction bookmarks and running grubby item reports. In addition to her normal duties, Destiny has been able to create props for the Harry Potter Party and work the program. She has also created a book display in the teen area with books she enjoys reading to share with other teens.

Her favorite part about working at the library is the freedom she has to work independently with little supervision. During her internship, Destiny learned she is a faster learner than she thought she was and that she prefers working independently rather than working as part of a team. Her internship experience has developed her people skills, problem solving skills and critical thinking skills. She has also become more familiar with working with excel spreadsheets.

In the future, Destiny plans to attend a 4 year university, in state or a Historically Black College. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, she plans to pursue a law degree at an Ivy League university. She hopes to work at a law firm for a few years and later become a judge. Destiny has an interest in becoming a lawyer because of the injustice she has experienced in her personal life and injustice witnessed in her community. Her personal goal is to be married and own a big house by age 30.
