What is the Wanda Fullmore Youth Internship Program?
The Wanda Fullmore* Youth Internship Program is a unique opportunity organized by Common Wealth Development for Madison youth to get involved with local government and gain training and employment. This program provides high school students with high-quality youth employment opportunities by working with the City to place youth in summer internships.
Youth who are selected to participate in the program will receive:
- Mandatory pre-internship training
- An 8-week summer internship opportunity
- Regular mentoring and support from Common Wealth Development
- Mandatory weekly professional development training
Internship opportunities may be with City of Madison Departments or Divisions or directly with the Common Wealth Development. Some recent departments/divisions that hosted interns in the past include:
- Parks Division
- Engineering Division
- City Attorney’s Office
- Madison Public Library
- Information Technology Department
- Madison Police Department Community Outreach and Resource Education (CORE) Unit
- Warner Park Recreation Center
- Public Health
- Finance and Purchasing Department
