On Friday February 10, 2017, the Central Library hosted Access Denied, a dance party preceded by a discussion on the ways that nightlife spaces can be inaccessible to members of our community, specifically, how people of color, immigrants, women, transgender people, queer people, disabled people, people with addictions, and youth experience barriers to parties and celebrations intended for everyone. The event was organized by team members Sarah Akawa Hagedon, T. Banks, Jean Brody, Alix Shabazz, and King Shabazz.
