Basically a Netflix for children's books, this subscription service gives subscribers access to tons of the same kids books that you'll find in our libraries plus some high quality original content. Free for the first 30 days. If you're stuck at home without access to a bunch of books, this is a truly worthwhile app to download. There are graphic novels, comic books (including Garfield in Spanish!), chapter books (both long and short ones with illustrations), picture books, beginning reader titles, audiobooks, videos, read-to-me titles that highlight each word as it's read. At the end of each book there's also a quiz, but you aren't required to complete those unless you want to (or unless your teacher assigns you to). Caregivers can track the reading that each child with an account on their home device does within the app. In addition to Spanish, there are also books in French and Chinese. You can search by title, by topic, or keywords, then filter by reading level, language and fiction/non-fiction. Available for iOS, Google Play and Windows devices. Note: there are also "educational" videos on this app. Many are pulled from YouTube, but have been screened to make sure they're kid friendly and all ads and requests to subscribe have been removed. You can also choose to NOT have videos as part of this app by switching preferences in the parents' settings area.
