This app by PBS Kids features five different play areas -- water, shadows, weather, ramps and "gear up" -- with three games or activities in each area. The water section is especially fun as you get to try different arrangements of elements to direct the flow of water down a fence! There is an extensive parent section with tips and activity suggestions about how to extend the play and learning beyond the screen. The app also has an easy switch between English and Spanish. My favorite funny game is the "Amazing Umbrella" where players choose one of two (often silly) objects to add to the end of Dot's umbrella handle to keep her dry. Which will work better -- a towel or a lunchbox? A piece of wood or a newspaper? Try them both and see! Note: there are two different versions for iPhone and iPad.
