It's that time of year when the world falls in love
Every song you hear seems to say, happy reading
May all your book dreams come true...
Yesterday I posted NPR's choices for the best books of 2018, now it's our turn (and by our I mean library workers across the land). Library Journal has compiled a collection of best books in 20 different categories. There's fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novels made up of a bit of both. Each category had a team of readers and if you look around you might even find my name on one of the lists (I did a whole lot of reading in a very short amount of time, I can tell you). And if that isn't enough to fill your holiday travel reading requirements, take a look at the books that library workers say they've recently read and loved in a list compiled by BuzzFeed. Side note: Who knew BuzzFeed had any interest in libraries or the hard-working, dedicated souls who work there? They have a whole set of articles posted during Library Appreciation Week. Oh and side note to the side note: If you have a strong-ish stomach you can read the article "Here's What It's Actually Like To Be a Librarian" - let me tell you this job is not for the faint of heart (no matter what the stereotypes portray).
So have at it. Find something for your holiday vacation or perhaps the perfect book gift for each of those readers in your family. Happy hunting.
