Locus Magazine has published their recommended reading list for 2023 titles and wow is there so much goodness to discover. They suggest best novels in science fiction, fantasy, and horror, but also have best in young adult and first novels (so happy to see To Shape a Dragon's Breath, which I loved).
They also have great lists of collections and anthologies for those who like shorter reads. And in that vein, perhaps best of all if you're looking for something to read right now, they include recommended novelettes and short stories** - most of which are linked right from the list. So you can not only place holds on many, many great titles, you can start reading content right away. I certainly know what I'll be diving into tonight.
Here's the complete list for your browsing pleasure.
**Short stories are usually in the 1000-10,000 word range, novelettes are 7,500-19,000 and novellas are 10,000-40,000 - in case you were wondering.
