Literacy Connection

Friendships can help children develop emotionally and intellectually. When interacting with friends, children learn many social skills, such as how to communicate, cooperate, and solve problems. They practice controlling their emotions and responding to the emotions of others.

By about 6 months your baby will likely show stronger interest in other children. Help your baby be ready for friends by giving them opportunities to mix with other babies and children, comfort them when they are upset (learn emotional control), and talking with them about feelings and kindness.
