In partnership with the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Dane County, Madison Public Library is hosting a series of aging and dementia-awareness classes throughout 2025. Classes are intended for older adults and their families, but all are welcome.

Memory screening is an important part of overall health and much like other routine health screenings. The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Dane County is offering free and confidential 15-minute memory screening appointments, including educational materials about memory concerns and brain health.

2-Part Advance Care Planning Workshop
Join us for this 2-part series. The first session on April 7 will provide education on what it means to Advance Care Plan and why it’s important. Ellen Taylor and Kayla Olson, Dementia Care Specialists at the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Dane County, will help you discern or discuss what matters to you and help ensure that you have a say in your health care. You will learn about advance care planning options and next steps in putting it all together. The second session, on April 21 will provide drop-in office hours to ask some questions and complete the Wisconsin state forms yourself. There will be on-site witnesses and a notary from Old National Bank present at the April 21 session.

Brain Health and Aging
Join Kayla Olson, Dementia Care Specialist from the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Dane County (ADRC), to find out what happens to our brains as we get older. Attendees will learn about age-related memory loss, and how you can modify your lifestyle to promote brain health, as well as decreasing the risk of dementia.
